Guilded Kraft Glassine

Dear blogger,

As it is sometimes too hot to do anything, I read and study. The other day I was looking through one of my craft bibles....the compendium of curiosity by Tim Holtz, part one and two. And I wanted to try this new technique. I already made a similar tag that I posted earlier today. However now the glassine doesn't act like an envelope but I made a little mixed media tag out of it.

I die cut a label out of Ledger paper card stock using a sizzix die by Tim Holtz and glued the glassine on it after I guilded it with perfect pearls.

The sentiment is from Dyan Reavely and I used some tissue tape to break it up a bit.

The fragments I made using Graphic 45 paper stash and Glossy accents.

 

I like the butterfly theme. Very appropriate for the temperatures we are having lately....

an envelope tag

Dear bloggers,

today I want to share a tag I made holding another tag. I am still very new to this hobby, compared to other artists I have seen on the Internet, but I evolve and learn every day. And this was another one of my experiments......

I die cut a tag using a Tim Holtz sizzix die and some ledger printed card stock.

I rubbed perfect pearls on the kraft glassine paper and used the tiny attacher by Tim Holtz to make a pocket. The embellishment is also a die cut out of black card stock and sprayed with a perfect pearls mist.

I took a smaller tag, out of kraft paper, and I eat embossed it using a flourish stamp by Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz and Frosted Chrystal antique embossing powder by Ranger. I just love that embossing powder. After it cooled I white washed the tag with White Picket Fence distress Stain.

 

Add two ribbons and put it together and you have a tag with a tag.

A tag for Tim

No not THE Tim....another Tim. This Tim was an intern at my Physical therapist's, and he treated me a couple of times over the past four months. So as a thank you I made him a tag.

 

Thank you Tim for your care and good luck in your further career.

He was the third intern that help me treat me in the past two years. It is amazing to see how different each of them are. I liked them all so far. In September there will be a new one. Hopefully also a nice and eager student...

A random tag inspired by Tim Holtz

Hello again dear reader,

The other day I was just pottering around in my craft room and this was the result..

I tried out my new Crafters Workshop circles mask. I took a manila tag and sprayed some ink over the mask onto the tag. Then I distressed the tag using walnut stain distress ink and the blending tool. I stamped the numbers using stazon ink and glued on the metal bird embellishment. I coloured it using alcohol ink. I distressed and inked a sentiment ticket and added it using a clamp. I wonder who will be the recipient of this one.

What's the time?

Dear blogger,

Like I said in a previous post, I love time themed tags. I have a lot of clock stamps and I love the inside of a watch. So I made another time themed tag...

It is a very simple one. I coloured the background using the spritz and flick technique using distress inks in various colours. Them I stamped various clocks on the background using stazon ink. The details of the clocks I highlighted using crackle accents by Ranger. A pocket watch charm completes the look. The sentiment I just wrote in a white opaque pen.

Borrowed inspiration...

Welcome back dear blogger,

The other day I was going through Tim Holtz' blog worthy links. In that he posts links he likes. Tammy Tutterow is one artist for instance that almost always makes the list. She is awesome... This time another artist caught my attention also. Her blog name is That crazy Chick. She had a wonderful idea and I used it to create a few tags myself. She created the mini tags I used on my bigger ones. I used the idea and gave it my own twist.

Her idea was the following: take a mini tag and colour it using distress inks. Then stamp a background. Take some card stock and stamp random small images on it using archival ink. colour the images with distress ink and distress the images using the splatter technique and distress the edges. Add tissue tape and voila.

So I was stuck with a lot of very pretty tiny tags.... I decided to go a step further and use them as an embellishment on a bigger tag...

I dry embossed the tags using embossing folders and my beloved cuttlebug. Inked them and then added the mini tags and other embellishments and sentiments to complete the look. I hope That Crazy Chick would approve...

And again a birthday tag

welcome dear blogger,

in this post I would like to show another birthday tag I made. I stuck to one of my favourite themes....clockwork....

I used to collect watches when I was younger. Unfortunately I lost most of them in various moves through various countries... Now I collect tea eggs and crafting supplies hahahaha.

I die cut the tag out of pre printed ledger paper. stamped the clocks on with stazon jet black ink. Then I ripped a piece of graphic 45 printed card stock to size and glued it on the tag. I inked the edges with distress ink. I cut the tattered clock out of card board and painted it with acrylic paint in the colour gold. Over that I rubbed on some distressed stickles to give it a bit of sparkle. The inners of the clock embellishment I made by pouring molten UTEE in a silicone mould. I gave that some dimension by rubbing some silver paint on it.

I had an oval die cut lying around and decided to paint it with some crackle paint. After id dried I attached the timeless sentiment to it that I made with a label writer.

I put every thing together and added a crinkle ribbon to complete the look.

Card for new born girl

Hello again bloggers,

The other day I made a tag for a girl that just entered this world. I find those as hard as the sympathy ones. I never know what to say or make. But I give it a shot every time any way...

 

Her name is Sterre, which means star in English. It is a rather unusual name though. I always make sure I don't make the girl cards too pink or the boy cards too blue. I die Cut a tag using Tim Holtz' tag and bookplate die and paper I got from my mom. The letters I die cut out of grunge board using another die of Tim Holtz. I painted the letters with blue crackle paint and inked the edges of the tag with distress ink.

 

I added two stars I cast using UTEE and a silicone mould by Martha Steward. Yes I do own other products besides Tim Holtz'......

The little hand charm I coloured using alcohol ink, also the bonnet of the little pram.

 

Some blue lace and pink ribbon even every thing out....

 

I hope Sterre will have a healthy and happy life.

Another birthday tag

Dear bloggers,

Today I want to share a birthday tag I made for one of my aunts.

I just wanted to bring some spring into her life now that we are having such a dreary summer.....

 

I stamped a background on  manila tag with embossing ink. I then heat embossed it with frosted crystal embossing powder by the antiquities line from Ranger. It is my absolute favourite embossing powder. I then inked the background using various colours of distress ink. I stamped a floral design with Sepia Archival ink. The letters were stamped in Jet Black stazon ink. I added some liquid pearls for a hint of colour.

 I added a lace trim and some mini paper roses to finish the whole spring theme off.

I like how it all came together. I hope Elly loved it too...

Birthday card

Hello dear reader,

as spring is in the air...it should be summer, but we cannot tell nature what to do....I made a birthday card using one of my new dies from Simonsaysstamp. One of my favourite online shops ever...

The background of the card I made ages ago using the wrinkle free distress technique by Tim Holtz. I love love love this technique. Makes you think you can watercolour like vanGogh.

So the base of the card was the background.

I stamped the flowery background using a stamp by Dyan Reavely in embossing ink and embossed it with tattered rose distress embossing powder. It looks darker on the light side of the card and lighter on the dark side of the card. You have got to love embossing powder! The green flower die cut is a special Simmonsaysstamp die. I saw it on a card once on the Internet and had to look for ages until I found it. It is so delicate and simple. The other die cut I have used before but is also a new addition to my collection. I like the way it looks like lace. The flower on that die cut is made using melted UTEE and a silicone mould.

The lace I stuck on there using tiny glue dots. The butterfly charm was a bit dull so I gave it a hint of colour using liquid pearls. A jump ring to stick it to the lace and then a scallop cut to the bottom edge of the card and my project was done.

Father's day present

Hello again blogger,

Thank you for tuning in again. As I have a fad at the moment for making mixed media canvasses, I decided to make one for my dad for Father's Day.

I wanted to keep it simple and yet personal. My dad has had a moustache for as long as anyone can remember so that obviously was the theme to go with. Luckily the moustache is the newest craze in the crafting world. I have stamps, die cuts, silicone moulds.......all of moustaches. So this was a no brainer.

I used a pre primed canvas. It was primed with gesso so I did not need to do that. I glued a sheet of paper stash on the canvas and let it dry. After it had dried completely I tore of the edges.

 

 

 

I then stamped various images in very light colours so they would make a nice subtle background.

Moustaches and of course men with a moustache. I added some die cuts I made from clear plastic packaging. I coloured them using alcohol inks.(A new addition to my crafting palette)

 

The embellishments on the top left corner and on the right of the canvas are made using UTEE and the melting pot and some moulds.

 

This little bookplate I stained with alcohol ink to make it look distressed and rusty. The sentiment ticket I inked with distress ink using the blending tool. Two brads hold it in place.

I placed two epoxy stickers on the whole project to break op the bare space. And also I covered some areas with Rock Candy Crackle Paint to give it some sparkle, but not too much.

 

The letters were covered in black UTEE and really pop.

 

It will be a surprise to see if, and if so, where it will hang in my parents home....

canvas for my dear cousin

Dear blogger,

in this post I want to share a canvas I made for my cousin who got married not to long ago. So it is kind of a belated wedding present.

 I primed the canvas with gesso to create a base. I then stuck some masks on it before I inked it with Antique Linen distress ink. Here and there I gave it a very light green hue as her favourite colour is green. On the left bottom corner I painted with white crackle paint and let that dry before I coloured the cracks with brown distress ink.

Here you see how the cracks of the crackle paint pop once they have been coloured.

After that I stamped the images on the canvas using archival ink. I love the leaf stamp from Ranger by Dyan Reavely.

The letters I painted with tarnished brass crackle paint.

I made a leafy die cut and stuck a rose on it I made using UTEE and the melting pot. I love how the rose looks like it is made of glass...

The other die cut is one of Tim Holtz's Bigz Dies. I painted those with liquid pearls and glued it all together.

I am proud to say that it now hangs on a prominent spot in my cousins living room.

I wish the happy couple lots of love and happiness.

first ever mixed media canvas

Dear blogger,

I have been dabbling in crafting now for a little while and wanted to try something new. So besides making cards and tags I decided to give mixed media canvasses a go.

Keep in mind this was my first attempt.

I started out with a blank canvas that was primed with gesso. I added some colour using distress inks and blending tools. Then I glued some tissue paper on it. I also used a bit of tissue tape. I cut the edges of the photo and the photo mat with craft scissors to give it a retro feel. The roses are made from paper I cut with a scallop edge and rolled them up to form the flower. The sentiment and flourishes I painted with crackle paint and glued it all together.

And voila, my first ever canvas....

I really liked doing this and I made a few more that I will post later on.

A simple welcome home tag

Hello again...

yes I am catching up on my posting aren't I? It is awful outside so I decided to sort my pictures and post on my blog so people know what I have been up to. Family and friends always ask me what I have been up to in my crafting room. This is why I started this blog. So they can see what I create. As they only normally get to see the things I send them, and not to others hahahaha.

Well here a photo of a tag I made for our neighbours who came back from France, I tend to their mail and plants when they are away...

I think this is my favourite technique with Tim Holtz's distress ink......wrinkle free distress....

 

Well I am off to my craft room again as various ideas are in my head and need to get out....

Altered calendar

Dear reader,

Last year I made a backing for my calendar, the starbucks inspired one. My mom loved that and now asked me to alter a calendar for her. She is crazy about the kingfisher so it had to be that.
It was a bit hard as I find it difficult to create something "on demand". I prefer to create as I go but it is hard to say no to mom....

So here the background for the calendar I created....

 

The weather, and therefor the daylight, is so dreary that the colours do not come out nice on the picture. But you get the gist of it.

 

This now hangs proudly in my parents bathroom.......

tag to cheer a friend up...

dear blogger,

I made a tag for a friend who I think could use a little pick me up. so I decided to send her one. I made it using little stickers she gave me a while ago. butterflies, flowers and whatnot and I made it into a colourful tag as she is a very colourful person.

I used the stamps from Ranger by Dyan Reavely as she is quite colourful too hahahaha.

I little while ago I got this cute die and I finally found time to use it. I made a card for someone to invite them over for a cup of java. The tag turned out quite sweet.

Mannequin tag

Hello dear Blogger,

in this post I want to share a tag I made using the Sewing Room die by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. It is the first time I used the big one and not the movers and shapers mannequin.

I am quite pleased with it as it is rather elegant.
