dispite snow...spring on my mind...

Dear bloggers,

I know, I know it has been a while......(turning red with shame) but I have been busy doing various things and to be honest I have been waiting for my new stamps from Tim Holtz to arrive......

I am happy to say that the first batch has found its way to my little craft room.

And to celebrate that fact I made a birthday tag with several of the new blue print stamps designed for Tim Holtz by Mario Rossi the Third. Am over the moon with this range.....
Can't wait for the rest to arrive in April.

I just love this stamp of the cupcake. Especially as I developed a bit of a hobby baking them myself.... I coloured it in with a water brush and distress ink. The sentiment is also from the new range which in my opinion was long overdue. I love sentiments and I love it even more the way Tim designed this set.

I stamped the cupcake twice. Once on the tag and once on white card stock. I cut out and coloured in the one on the white card stock and stuck it on the tag using 3D foam to give it some dimension. I love how the colours of the background turned out. So festive and happy.

This is just a simple tag I made as I used the tag itself to mop up the excess ink on my craft sheet..... I like the watercolour effect so much... The cattails I stamped with distress ink and brushed over some brown perfect pearls powder. Then sprayed with a mini mister to make the ink bleed. A black bird and a blue corner finished it off. A sentiment ticket to give it some power and I was done.

I am currently working on a scrapbook for a 70th birthday and I will post it as soon as it is done. In the mean time I will try and post some other projects.

Take care and see you soon.

Tag with Santa ATC

Merry Christmas everyone,

I hope you had some nice days. I did. Nice and quiet and lots of Chritmas spirited films....
Anyway.... I want to share another Christmas project. No I am not done just yet..

I made a tag with an ATC on it. It is more of a classic card.

The tag I embossed using a brass old fashioned embossing plate, the cuttlebug and a silicone embossing mat. It turned out quite nice and subtle. I then inked the tag with Distress innk and an ink blending tool. The edges I inked with Walnit stain distress ink to give it a distressed look. On the berries of the holly I stuck self adhesive pearls to give it some dimension. I glued a nice broad satin ribbon around the tag. Then I made my ATC.

It is stamped in a white card stock ATC in coffee brown Stãzon ink. I then heat embossed the various areas and added a sentiment. All the edges were distressed with Walnut Stain distress ink and an ink blending tool. It was glued on the card and ready to send.

Until next time,

Multi coloured embossing Santa girl.

Hello again,

Welcome back. I am so glad you decided to visit my blog again.
Today I want to share a project I made as an experiment really. It turned out okay so I sent the card for Christmas.

I started out with colouring the tag using stains. Then I stamped the image in black Stãzon ink. I coloured in the various areas with an embossing pen. First all the areas I wanted to be white, like the trim of the coat and hat.I then heat embossed it with white powder. Then I did the same with the areas I wanted to be red. I heat embossed them also. Then I found out the white was tainted with some red granules and it turned pink. So I used liquid pearls to cover up the pink. The Holly twig I coloured with stickles and the tree I heat embossed with powder. Also the star on top of the tree. I think it all looks quite adorable.

Until next time!

Shiny Santa

Dear reader,

Today another in the moment creation. I decided to make a Christmas tag using only Perfect Pearls Powders. It made a rather flashy tag I must say.

I stamped everything with perfect medium on a black tag. That is especially for working with Perfect pearls powders. Although I use imitation powders as the perfect pearls powders are rather expensive. The only difference is that after I complete my project I have to mist it with a little hairspray to fixate it all.
I coloured everything with different colours and it looks nice and shiny.
I added a red ribbon and a "handmade" charm and I dabbed the edge of the tag with a pearl acrylic paint dabber.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog so far. I invite all my readers to leave a comment so that I know what you think of my work or with suggestions. In any language.

Take care and I hope to welcome you back soon!

Simply Frosty....

Hello all,

This tag was made very last minute. I didn't have much time so I had to make something rather simple and quick. The frosty die I made by the dozen so I always have a stash. It is simple cut out of card board using the cuttlebug and sizzix dies. The sentiment I also have a pile of and tags.....I have literally thousands of tags in all sizes and various colours. So it is all a question of gluing it all together and write my wishes on the back of the tag.

Quick and easy once all the dies are cut hahahahaha. I always start in September with my Christmas stash. In a way I work backwards. As I make my Christmas preparations before I even start on my Halloween projects. But then again for Halloween I only make about 10 projects and for Christmas about 30. So by the time November comes I have cut and painted all my embellishments. Well nearly all of them. As sometimes I get inspired and I make something from scratch.

Anyway, this is my favourite Christmas die.....

Until next time.....take care and thank you for visiting...come again.

Gingerbread man tag

Happy Holidays dear readers,

I hope all is well. The countdown has begun....the last Christmas cards and tags have been made. Unless someone sends me a card that I haven't sent one yet I am done making seasonal things. But a few haven't been posted yet so here comes another one...

I stained the tag with warm colours and distressed the edges with Walnut stain. I stamped the sentiments with clear embossing ink and heat embossed them in white. The gingerbread man is a die cut I got with a magazine. I painted it chocolate brown and trimmed it with liquid pearls to make it look ready to eat. The snowflake is a die cut from Tim Holtz and I painted it with pearl acrylic paint. The wreath is a die cut also by Tim. It is a leaf crest but I made it into a wreath. I stained it with Pine needles distress stain and heat embossed it using Pine Needles Distress embossing powder. I decorated it with stickles and liquid pearls. I put it all on the tag and added a gold ribbon and a blue ribbon on the tag. I also put a "handmade"charm on it. This was my first ever gingerbread man...

Until next time...stay tuned for a few more Christmas wishes.....

A cosy fireplace

Dear reader,

A friend of mine lives in California in the States, so I don't think she will have a fireplace burning for the festive season. So I thought I would make her one.

I decided to take pictures of the work in progress. Just to show the various steps.
I started out with regular card stock. I embossed it using the Cuttlebug and an embossing folder to get the brick wall effect. I then coloured it slightly beige using distress ink and an ink blending tool. Then I blackened an area to make it look like charred stones. Using liquid pearls in blue, red, orange and yellow to make the flames. Around the flames I used some glittery stickles here and there to make it look like it is really burning. I thought it looked rather real!

The sides of the fireplace I made from parts of a die cut using the Baroque die from Tim Holtz, I cut it out of grunge board. It is a bit thicker so it has more dimension. I painted it with a grey crackle paint. The faux wrought iron I made from regular card stock cut with the iron gate die from Tim. I painted it with black acrylic paint and gave it a glossy shine with a glue. The beam I cut from kraft glassine and I embossed it with a wood grain embossing folder in the cuttlebug. The inside of the sides and the bottom of the faux beam are also blackened with a tiny bit of black ink.

You can't have a festive fireplace without a Christmas stocking.... I still had a die cut lying around that I put to use here. I painted it red and white and let it dry. Then I covered the red with stickles and the white with my snow marker. Looks so cute! I first thought of adding white or gold stripes but I am glad I didn't. It looks perfect like it is.

I stamped a garland on some white card stock and cut it out using a pair of scissors. After all a fireplace at Christmas needs a garland.

I put some red and green distress ink on my craft sheet and with a water brush I coloured in the garland. The flowers in red and the rest in green obviously... The berries I touched with white liquid pearls. And with gold stickles I made a trim in the whole thing.
The next thing the fireplace needs is candles. You cannot celebrate Christmas without candles. So I stamped a few candles and cut them out.

I coloured in the candles with biscotti liquid pearls and the little flames with gold. The area around the flames I brushed slightly with stickles to give it a glow. But I coloured it yellow with distress ink beforehand. On this picture you can also see a close up from the garland.
Here you see the whole thing together. The sentiment is embossed using the cuttlebug, it is silver card stock and I sanded it slightly to make it look weathered. I distressed it a bit using walnut stain, green and red distress ink and added a gold trim. I think the whole thing looks quite cosy. The edge of the card is also distressed and I chomped the corners to finish it all off. I hope Megan likes it.
You can almost feel the warmth of the fire, right?

I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial..... and stay tuned.
