Distress crayon and stencil turorial

In this post I'd like to share an experiment that turned out to be quite a success. I posted a tag I made using distress crayons and a stencil.
This is the tag in question. So I will show you step by step how you can achieve this look. I did use some lighter colours and a different stencil, as they show more clearly how it is done.

What you need is a tag, a stencil, distress crayons and some tape to stick your project down while you apply the crayon.

I always tape my tag and stencils down as when you rub the crayon into the stencil, it might shift if you don't.

Just scribble the crayon over the stencil. It will crumble and look like a disaster, but not to worry.....
See? Just rub it with your fingers into the crevices of the stencil. This will create a certain look and texture that you don't get with texture paste.

I work in small patches, as crayons do dry and I don't want to risk the crayon drying befor I rubbed it.

I decided to use picket fence as well as tumbled glass, to give it a bit more colour. After all is rubbed in, you gently remove the stencil and immediately clean it with water. I use a soft scrubby to get the crayon out of the tiniest nooks and crannies of the stencil.

This is what it looks like afterwards. Make sure you leave it to dry for at least 24 hours as the crayon will smear otherwise. You could use a heat tool but you risk melting the crayon. Add a ribbon and maybe a sentiment and embellishment and you are done!

And this is the finished tag.

Thank you for stepping by, have a wonderful day.

Take care and keep your craft on :-)

Pinecone Christmas

Today I want to share a card I made with the latest release by Nicole Wright Designs that is available at Emerald Creek Craft Supplies.

I loooooove pinecones and as soon as I saw this stamp set I knew I had to have it and this card popped in my head.

I stamped the garland around the edge twice, using my MISTI. I stamped it once after I coloured the rubber with various distress markers. I went over the wet print with my water brush to get the watercolour effect. Then I coloured the stamp again with some darker colours and stamped right over it. I love how the little pinecones look on this card!

I stamped and coloured the Santa with distress markers and some areas are speuced up with my clear Wink of Stella brush. Add the sentiment, mount it on a red card blank and voilĂ !

Thank you for stepping by :-)

Have a great day and take care.

Shake it baby

Tim Holtz has this awesome new thinlit set that depicts a village in a snow globe. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to turn it into a shaker card. After three days of fiddling I finally done it!

Unfortunately I can't show a video here, but I do have one on my facebook page called Bubblescrap tags and cards.

Thank you for stepping by and keep your craft on!!

More christmas cards

I made two more christmas cards using a new stamp by Emerald Creek Craft Supplies. As soon as I saw this stamp I needed to have it! It is ultimate vintage... and I love me some vintage!! I also used fractured ice and yuletide embossing powders, also from Emerald Creek.
Used the same stamp for two totally different cards. I love that about stamps, they are so versatile :-)

Thank you for taking the time to step by!

Take care,
Freddie

Hello dear fellow crafter,

I want to share with you the first batch of christmas cards I finished.

The ones with the plaid background are made with alcohol inks and simple stamping, splatters and an embellishment.

The other ones are water colour cards.

There will be more to follow.

thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Have a great day :-)

Wax paper resist technique

Welcome to my blog. Today I want to share a technique that is an oldie but goodie. The wax paper resist technique. It works amazing with distress inks. This tutorial will be featured on the Distress Ink Technique page on facebook. I am one of the admins and we take turns to post a tutorial on there every monday, the technique of the week :-)

Well let me explain this particular technique. You will need an old iron to do this technique, or one you don't use for your fancy clothes ;-)

This is what you need: an old iron, two pieces of card, a piece of wax paper and an embossing folder. Oh and an embossing machine obviously lol.

I dry embossed the sheet of wax paper using an embossing folder and a piece of card to add more pressure.

Here you see the pattern embossed in the wax paper.

I cover the front and back with my pieces of card stock, and put this sandwich inbetween two sheets of cheap copy paper.

You iron over the cheap copy paper to get the wax to melt onto the card stock. It goes very quickly. I put my iron on the highest setting and just move it over the sheets a few times.

You can barely see it, but the wax print is on there! Trust me ha ha ha.

See, I told you it was there. Here you see the difference between the embossed and the debossed side of the wax paper imprint. Left is the embossed side and on the right the debossed side. I inked over it with stormy sky distress ink and an ink blending tool.

I turned them into two christmas cards with some embellishments and stamped sentiment.

I stuck the card onto a card blank after I trimmed it to size and inked the edges with some walnut stain distress ink. I had this ATC laying around for ages, so I decided to use it as a card topper.
Then stamped my sentiment in black and after that completely dried, I stamped it again but with embossing ink and heat embossed it in silver.

On this card I stamped the sentiment in archival ink and after it dried I wrapped some baker's twine around the card stock befor I stuck it to the card blank. I added a little red jingle bell to give it a more festive look. I painted a wooden snowflake silver and adorned it to my card and it is done!

Thank you so much for taking the time to have look and I hope you are going to give this technique a try :-)

Have a great day, and keep your  craft on ;-)

Take care,
